Dogs and cats do very well on the naturally occurring enzymes and nutrients in raw meat. They have a smaller digestive tract and are not prone to the same bacterial infections that humans are; so concern over feeding raw meats is not a problem. More and more people are finding benefits in feeding raw meats to their pets. Holistic vets throughout the country are seeing the value of feeding raw foods. By adding raw meat to Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™, they have found that their patients are truly thriving. Dr. Harvey’s Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™ are an excellent way to have a complete diet when feeding your companions a raw meat diet. Some people feel more comfortable cooking the meat and that is certainly a fine way, as well, to use Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™. |

Dr. Harvey's™ Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™ are made of certified organic grains which are highly digestible and provide essential complex carbohydrates. When you add the meat the first ingredient becomes protein. Carbohydrates are important for all muscle and brain metabolism. The easiest way to get storage glycogen to be released as glucose for muscle and brain function is through carbohydrates. In addition, Canine Health™ is loaded with vegetables that provide essential vitamins and minerals and a whole food herbal vitamin and mineral supplement made from whole foods such as bee pollen, alfalfa, nutritional yeast, spirulina, lecithin and certified organic herbs. When the raw foods are added to these exceptional mixes, you will know that your pet is eating the most balanced diet available anywhere. |

The quality of the meat should be the best you can buy. If organic or free range, hormone and antibiotic free meats are not available, then get the freshest meats you can find. We recommend using the best beef, chicken, turkey or fish available. Tofu and lentils are choices for strict vegetarians. It really depends on what your dog or cat likes best. We do suggest rotating the type of protein that you use. A raw food diet can truly enhance the health of your companion. |

This is a myth that has been around since commercial dog food was created. Dogs thrive on whole natural foods, just like humans. Their nutritional needs are specific. The added chemicals, dyes and preservatives in dog foods are detrimental to an animal’s health. The most important factor is that the food is fresh. All living beings thrive on fresh foods. Meat kept in a refrigerator for more than two days begins to go bad. So how can meat in a bag or can be good to feed your companion? |

Feeding your pets the most natural chemical free diet is the best way to keep them healthy and increase longevity. Chemicals, coloring agents and preservatives not only promote disease but they can cause allergies, skin reactions and tax an animal’s immune system. |

Absolutely not. Just add it to boiling water and wait 8 minutes, add your meat and oil and it's good to go. It is really so easy and the benefits are so great; it is worth the little extra effort that is required. |

Dogs love Canine Health™, absolutely love it! We get calls and emails everyday saying how wonderful it is to see dogs eat with such gusto. Converting a cat to healthful eating can be more challenging. See the Feline Line for full feline instructions. |

Healthy teeth are a result of a good diet. Giving hard knuckle or soup bones may satisfy a dog’s need to chew. |

Dogs and cats of all ages will benefit from Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™. Dr. Harvey suggests starting puppies and kittens as soon as they are weaned. But, it’s never too late to switch and most dogs and cats that are older have benefitted from the effects of this all natural diet. Switching a dog to Canine Health™ is usually a simple and exciting process. Dogs love Dr. Harvey's™ and there is usually no need for a period of time for their bodies to adapt to this new and wonderful food. Most dogs love the taste and digest the food well. So unless your dog has a history of digestive problems you can just make the switch. Cats on the other hand can be more of a challenge. Everyone knows that cats are incredibly finicky, so patience in the conversion to a natural diet is very important. Some cats will take to the food immediately. But most of the time it is wise to convert your companion cat slowly. Adding small amounts of Dr. Harvey's Feline Health™ to whatever you are currently feeding and gradually increase the Feline Health™ and reduce the commercial food. Cats also need fish oil added to their diet to get enough absorbable vitamin A. This process of conversion can take anywhere from 1 week to 3 months. We have found that adding organic baby food chicken or turkey can sometimes speed up the process. |

Most of our customers report improvement within 3 weeks. Sometimes it can take up to 2 months for a condition to clear up completely. It is important during this period to make sure you are not adding any preservatives to your pet’s diet. In other words, do not supplement with commercial food or give treats that have preservatives in them. |

Each package of food comes with complete instructions on how to feed your pet. The feeding instructions are based on the size, weight and age of your dog. Dr. Harvey's Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™ also takes into consideration that each animal is an individual with individual needs. Start by making the recipe provided in the bag. This will make one pound of finished food and will be enough for two meals for most toy dogs, small breeds or cats. A medium sized dog may need one and half times the recipe and for a large dog you may want to double the recipe. Keep in mind that age, weight, level of activity and the animal’s individual appetite are all factors. Play with the amounts until you and your companion have adjusted to this new way of eating. As an animal ages, the amount of animal protein should be cut back. Puppies need extra protein and we suggest adding a small amount of cottage cheese to the food daily for extra calcium. |

Dr. Harvey's™ Canine Health™ and Feline Cuisine™ contain a whole foods herbal multi-vitamin, so no additional multi-vitamin is needed. It is essential to add oil to the food as the recipe explains. Other herbal supplements can be added to the food for special needs—puppies, performance, pregnant, geriatric, arthritic, and convalescing animals. |

There are times when animals need extra or targeted supplementation--critical growth periods in puppies and kittens; performance; geriatrics and debilitated animals. Herbal healing has been used for thousands of years in many different cultures. Animals can benefit greatly from the healing properties of certain herbs. In fact, in the wild animals often find and eat herbs that grow in nature as they instinctively know how to heal themselves. Whole foods are foods which contain everything needed for life. That’s why each of Dr. Harvey’s™ supplement formulas contains spirulina, nutritional yeast, kelp, flax seed meal, lecithin, alfalfa, bee pollen and garlic. |
